Job Description

Subject: Teacher - AVID

Reports To: Building Principal

Accountability Objective: These positions are accountable for assuming the responsibility for delivering high quality instructional experience through creativity, resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the curriculum frameworks, standards and the rules and regulations of the Worcester Public Schools.

Principal Accountabilities: (to be included along with other responsibilities)

  • Responsible for remaining up to date regarding curriculum content.
  • Responsible for effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction.
  • Responsible for mentoring students’ understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusting instruction, materials, or assessments, when appropriate.
  • Responsible for effective management of classroom environment.
  • Responsible for effective instruction, which includes making learning goals clear to the students, using appropriate instructional and questioning techniques.
  • Responsible for using innovative approaches, and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learn.
  • Responsible for the promotion of high standards and expectations for student achievement.
  • Responsible for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student earning, including, for implementing specific strategies for students with special needs, with 504 plans and r second language learners.
  • Responsible for providing equal educational and employment opportunities to all individual regardless of race, color, gender, age, religion, gender identity, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, or homelessness
  • Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MA DESE Teacher Certification in a Content Area grades 5-12
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • SEI Endorsement

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs
  • Demonstrated experience with second language acquisition
  • Ability to speak Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese or an African Language.

WORK YEAR: 185 days

Salary scale shown is based on the candidate holding a Bachelor's Degree. Potential to increase based on degree level

Position Type: Full-time

Salary: $61,410 to $91,240 Per Year
