About the RoleAs a Substitute Educator, you will ensure seamless continuity of learning and student care across grades 6–12 by stepping into classroom environments on a short-term or extended basis. You will execute established lesson plans, facilitate small-group and individual learning, and maintain an engaging, supportive environment that aligns with MAI's academic and athletic rigor.
Additionally, this position integrates potential coverage opportunities as a Residential House Parent. In this dual capacity, you may step in to provide supervision, guidance, and a supportive living environment for student-athletes within our residential facilities during evening, weekend, or overnight shifts. Whether in the classroom or the residence hall, you will serve as a reliable, compassionate presence dedicated to the holistic safety, well‑being, and personal growth of our students.
WhatYou Will Do
As a Substitute Educator with MAI, you will ensure instructional continuity for student-athletes in grades 6–12 by executing lesson plans, facilitating small-group learning, and guiding students through academic coursework and technology tools. In this flexible dual role, you may also step in as a Residential House Parent to oversee dormitory routines, evening study hours, and weekend activities. Whether in the classroom or the residence hall, you will foster a safe, disciplined, and supportive environment dedicated to the academic success, safety, and personal growth of our student-athletes.

Qualifications- Education
:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Youth Development, or a related field preferred. - Experience
:
Minimum of 1 years of experience as a classroom teacher or substitute teacher;
Prior experience in a boarding school and/or residential life facility preferred - Expertise
:
Proven experience leading middle and high school classrooms (grades 6–12), stepping seamlessly into diverse subject areas, executing pre-established lesson plans, and facilitating small-group learning;
Demonstrated ability to manage, support, and mentor student-athletes in structured classroom settings as well as residential/boarding dorm environments. - Knowledge
:
Understanding of the unique schedules, academic workloads, and psychological demands faced by student-athletes balancing rigorous academics and athletics;
Knowledge of positive behavior management techniques, dormitory safety protocols, and student-centered care practices that ensure a secure, inclusive, and disciplined environment.
The salary structure of this role is as follows:
- $100 for half day academic coverage (8:00am-12:30pm or 1:00pm-5:30pm)
- $200 for full day academic coverage (8:00am-5:30pm)
