CMTI EMT Program Educator/Lab Instructor

The Paramedic (EMT-P) Program Educator/Lab Instructor assists with the instruction of EMS courses for Comprehensive Medical Teaching Institute (CMTI) accredited Paramedic (EMT-P) programs. The Paramedic Program Educator/Lab Instructor supports the Instructor/Coordinator with classroom lectures, psychomotor instruction, and laboratory activities. This position reports to the CMTI Program Director and Director of Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with instruction for the didactic, psychomotor, clinical, and laboratory components of all CMTI-accredited Paramedic (EMT-P) programs operating throughout Massachusetts.
  • Prepare and deliver instruction under the supervision of the CMTI Program Director or Instructor/Coordinator.
  • Supervise Paramedic students during classroom, laboratory, simulation, and other instructional activities.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide feedback to the CMTI Program Director or Instructor/Coordinator.
  • Conduct case review sessions in the Simulation Lab, classroom, or off-site training locations.
  • Operate audiovisual equipment and simulation laboratory equipment.
  • Participate in professional development programs offered by CMTI.
  • Attend staff meetings as required.
  • Adhere to all CMTI policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the CMTI Program Director, Director of Operations, or Instructor/Coordinator.
Knowledge/Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a current Massachusetts Paramedic (EMT-P) certification and be in good standing with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services.
  • Massachusetts Paramedic Instructor/Coordinator certification is preferred but not required. CMTI is willing to sponsor selected candidates for the Instructor/Coordinator program after one year of successful employment.
License, Registration, and Certification Requirements
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Current Massachusetts and National Registry certification as a Paramedic (EMT-P).
Experience and Skills
  • Experience as an EMS educator, Field Training Officer (FTO), preceptor, or other relevant EMS educational experience. Equivalent experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis following review of all submitted documentation.
  • Experience with EMS education standards and/or certification as an instructor for CPR, PHTLS, AMLS, ACLS, or PALS is preferred but not required.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Paramedic Program Educator/Lab Instructor to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Compensation

This is an hourly position. Compensation is based on the candidate's EMS education experience, instructional background, and qualifications
