Position: Long Term Substitute Bridges Paraprofessional Position

Reports To: Richard Cameron

Work Year Days: Present - 11/23/26

Work Hours: Full School Day

Educational/Training /Experience/License

Required:

Evidence of Highly Qualified status through one of the following:

• Completion of at least 48 college credit hours from an accredited institution; or
• Associate’s Degree or higher; or
• Passing score on the Para Pro Assessment

Accountability Objective:

The Bridges Program Paraprofessional works under the direction of the classroom teacher, special educator, and related service providers to support students with a wide range of cognitive, developmental, behavioral, communication, and social-emotional disabilities. The paraprofessional provides instructional, behavioural, functional, and emotional support to help students access the curriculum, build independence, develop social-emotional skills, and participate successfully in the school environment.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver instruction using lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher.
• Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Adapt to various subjects and grade levels as scheduled.
• Communicate effectively with students and fellow staff.
• Adhere to all district policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• Prior teaching or substitute experience is a plus.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Flexibility to accept assignments on short notice.

DESIRED

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working in a middle or high school setting.
• Familiarity with special education practices and student support strategies.
• Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs, including behavioral and social-emotional support.
