Position Overview

General/Interdisciplinary Engineer – Hanscom Air Force Base, Bedford, MA

• Apply engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods to extend or modify existing knowledge.
• Resolve unique or novel problems, conditions, or issues; significantly alter standard practices, equipment, devices, processes, and known techniques.
• Provide expert advice to professional colleagues and/or agency officials responsible for broad program operations.
• Recommend innovative approaches for advancing programs and/or methods.
• Execute significant projects representing key segments of the agency’s operating programs.
• Use judgment and ingenuity in evaluating the value and applicability of new or improved technology, strategies, trends, or applications.
• Investigate, predict, and anticipate issues and conditions extending beyond a single specialty area, affecting known standards, approaches, precedents, or concepts.
• Formulate or collaborate on new standards, applications, concepts, or theories; change existing knowledge and extend understanding of phenomena.
• Implement strategies and actions to affirm the integrity, economy, quality, and effectiveness of engineering or scientific programs.
• Advocate recommendations, strategies, and actions to reconcile or resolve novel, conflicting, or controversial issues or policies.

This position is expected to pay $87,000 to $116,000 annually, depending on experience, education, and any certifications directly related to the position.

• Bachelor's or master’s degree in a related field and at least three (3) years of relevant experience; or
• Seven (7) years of directly related experience, five (5) of which must be in the DoD.

• Knowledge of VOIP and telephony technologies.
• Review vendor technical and engineering documentation.
• Coordinate with PMs on findings and propose changes to ensure vendor adjustments meet requirements.
• Understanding of technical drawings.
• Articulate operational impacts to leadership.
• Lead technical syncs and coordinate cross‑domain work with multiple PMOs.
• Present artifacts and gather information on market research and industry best practices.

• Proof of U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency.
• Successful completion of a U.S. government background investigation.
• Obtain a Secret clearance by date of hire.
• Travel, including air travel, is required.
