Development Engineering Technician – Hiring Levels I, II & III
We are seeking Development Engineering Technicians at level I, II, & III to support product development initiatives in a hands‑on engineering environment. This role partners closely with engineering teams to build, test, troubleshoot, and refine electromechanical prototype systems and test equipment.
This position is ideal for someone with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude who thrives in a fast‑paced development setting and can work both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities- Build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify electrical and mechanical prototype systems with engineering‑level documentation and/or verbal instructions, applying sound engineering technician practices and maintaining lab notebooks and records of work performed. Prototype systems range from simple to complex and light to heavy. Generate electrical and mechanical sketches/drawings to clarify design details and functional criteria under the guidance of an Engineer.
- Assemble experimental circuitry, mechanical assemblies, or complete prototype systems according to engineering instructions, technical documentation, and knowledge of electronics and mechanical systems and components.
- Recommend changes to build and test methods to Engineering to improve DFM and serviceability.
- Set up standard fixtures, or devise new equipment and circuitry to perform functional, operational, and other tests to evaluate performance and reliability.
- Be proficient with power tool usage and maintenance.
- Provide hands‑on troubleshooting, guidance, and some problem‑solving support within development engineering as needed. Assist Engineering in determining root cause and subsequent analysis.
- Collaborate with and provide guidance to small groups of Engineering Technicians to accomplish project goals and milestones.
- Organize and maintain prototyping build and test environments, and engineering workstations, to ensure tools and equipment are available, inventoried, organized, tracked, stored, maintained, and replaced/expanded as driven by project needs.
- Assist Development Engineers with revisions and improvements to build and test procedures.
- Handle moderate to high‑complexity tasks with minimal oversight.
- Manage assignments on tasks within small group projects and track completion using Jira and Agile methodology.
- Communicate ideas and tasks effectively in both written and verbal form.
- High school diploma required; technical/trade school training preferred.
- Highly skilled with precision tools and metrology equipment.
- 5+ years of experience in a similar/related role within a development environment. Experience in a Lead role is a plus.
- Understands Engineering terminology and can execute tasks based on verbal and written direction.
- Experience with MS Office tools, especially Excel and Outlook.
- Some experience accessing information in MRP/ERP systems or Kinetic a plus.
- Highly organized and methodical.
- Engineering lab or pilot production setting.
- Collaborative, team‑oriented environment with a focus on product development.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to use tools and interact with equipment regularly.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and via phone/email.

- Development Engineer Technician – Level II: $26.00 – $32.50
- Development Engineer Technician – Level III: $31.00 – $40.00
