- The Mechanical Estimator will provide detailed estimates based on conceptual documents and schematic, design development and construction documents.
- Manage new and existing client relations; develop and maintain strong owner and general contractor relationships to ensure satisfaction and ongoing award of new projects.
- Negotiate final pricing with clients and manage material/subcontractor buyouts with vendors.
- Interface with other estimating disciplines and members of the Project Team, Subcontractors, and Management.
- Responsible for all take-offs, pricing, and producing the final estimate to be incorporated into the final work product.
- Knowledgeable in multiple aspects of mechanical estimating, including sheet metal, piping systems, plumbing, process piping, ATC systems, and process instrumentation.
- Navigate blueprints through all stages of design from DD to CD and produce relevant RFIs when required.
- Knowledge of local subcontractor market.
- Personable and capable of direct client interaction.
- Ability to work in a team environment and handle multiple assignments.
- Prepare and coordinate all aspects of mechanical estimates (conceptual, construction management, lump sum).
- Generate take-offs, conceptual estimates and detailed estimates for GMP/CM proposals, budgets and negotiated work with limited oversight.
- Lead mechanical estimating on projects of varying sizes.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience estimating HVAC/Mechanical Systems.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Technical/Design Education or equivalent estimating experience.
- Field experience in project management or subcontractor.
- Experience developing and managing new and existing owner and general contractor relationships.
- Excellent organization, written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient with MS Office (Excel) or Google Workspace.
- Experience with Trimble is a plus.
- Ability to multitask and work with a team.
Ability to sit, answer phones, type, and work on a computer screen for extended periods. Ability to stand, sit, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and walk for extended periods.
