Position: Engineer, Distribution Engineering (Hybrid Schedule)
Location: Hadley

Job Overview

The Distribution Engineer role is part of the Distribution Engineering organization covering Western Massachusetts and is based in Hadley, MA. The engineer works with complex systems and equipment, providing engineering and technical services to support the organization and to modernize operations and integrate renewable energy resources.

Essential Functions
  • Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Ensures accomplishment of business goals through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.
  • Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches related to defined problems.
  • Conducts engineering studies and completes non-routine engineering projects with minimal oversight.
  • Possesses and applies fundamental engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills and maintains accurate records and files.
  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
Technical Knowledge, Skills, Education, Licenses & Certifications
  • Knowledge of utility power systems is preferred.
  • Ability to independently develop, present, and execute new projects through collaboration with other departments.
  • Familiarity with power‑related software is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • 3–5 years of related experience; engineering design experience preferred.
  • No specific licenses or certifications required.
Working Conditions
  • Must be available for emergency restoration assignments as required.
  • Must be able to travel between MA, CT, and NH as necessary; occasional to significant travel by car may be required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
Compensation and Benefits
