Manufacturing Engineer
The Manufacturing Engineer's responsibilities include designing and implementing efficient manufacturing processes that produce high quality product. They will identify areas of improvement to maintain high levels of manufacturing and product quality. They can provide input on new products through design for manufacturability, be able to design and implement processes, as well as ensuring cost efficiency and conformance with regulatory standards. The Manufacturing Engineer should be able to work independently and effectively with minimal oversight.
When required they should be able to lead a team or be an integral member of a team while adding a high level of technical expertise. An outstanding manufacturing engineer should be able to develop and optimize manufacturing processes for maximum efficiency, cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Conceptualize, design and implement new manufacturing processes.
- Evaluate existing manufacturing processes, identify areas for improvement and lead with implementation of improvements
- Determine problem resolutions and implement improvements and or corrective actions.
- Identify and implement new pieces of manufacturing equipment that increase productivity and improve quality.
- Develop detailed layouts for equipment, processes, and workflow
- Develop and implement cost-saving measures and quality control systems.
- Ensure manufacturing processes, equipment, and products comply with safety standards and legal regulations
- Interact with customers to provide design for manufacturability recommendations and guidance regarding processes
- Maintain research and activity documentation and prepare reports.
- Design and create dimensioned drawings for tools and fixturing
- Familiarity and understanding of computer numerical control (CNC) systems
- Strong knowledge of computer aided design (CAD) systems
- Work with company ERP system to assist the business
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering preferred
- Experience in machining / material removal processes required.
- Experience evaluating and troubleshooting manufacturing processes and machinery
- Experience using CAD, CAM, data analysis programs, and related software
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong organization and management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- High level of technical expertise
- Strong analytical thinker
