Responsibilities
- Perform engineering inspections, develop technical documentation, and prepare analytical reports.
- Make recommendations to assure sound economic engineering and architectural designs.
- Review and implement directives and policies, and monitor the status of maintenance and repair projects for facilities and utility systems.
- Oversee maintenance, repair, and improvements to buildings, structures, roads, paved areas, grounds, and drainage systems, including preventative building maintenance.
- Provide advice and information on current and future programs.
- Advise the Operations and Maintenance division personnel on plans, budgets, and priorities.
- Supervise, plan, direct, and review the work of a multidisciplinary staff, providing assistance and guidance on complex or controversial problems and projects.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise engineering support activities for buildings and grounds.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- An one‑year probation is required to assess supervisory duties unless previously completed.
- The position has been designated as "Emergency‑Essential".
- Previously required driver’s license has been removed from the conditions of employment.
- Basic Requirement for General Engineer
- Degree:
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in engineering from a school accredited by ABET, or an equivalent program that includes differential and integral calculus and advanced courses in at least five of the seven specified areas of engineering science or physics.

Education and Experience- Professional registration or licensure (EI, EIT, or PE) by any State, DC, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
- Evidence of successfully passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or equivalent written test required for professional registration.
- Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences, including specified courses.
- Graduation from a bachelor’s degree program in a related scientific field with at least one year of professional engineering experience under supervision.
- In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, the applicant must also have one year of specialized experience that includes:
- Preparing and executing engineering plans, designs, and specifications for facilities‑related engineering projects/programs.
- Utilizing a broad range of engineering concepts, principles, and procedures to complete various engineering projects.
- Managing personnel in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre‑Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
- One‑year probationary period may be required.
- Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
- Salary includes applicable locality pay or local market supplement.
- Permanent change of station (PCS) costs may be authorized.
- Recruitment and relocation incentives may be authorized.
- Student loan repayment may be authorized.
- Salary negotiations for candidates new to Federal service may be authorized.
- Credit for prior non‑Federal work experience and certain military service for determining annual leave accrual rate may be authorized.
