Molex is seeking a highly motivated Senior Process Engineer to join our team at the Temp-Flex facility in South Grafton, Massachusetts. This role will serve as a technical leader in manufacturing process development, equipment innovation, existing and new product introduction (NPI) activities supporting next-generation RF, microwave, medical, and specialty cable products.
The successful candidate will leverage deep manufacturing and process engineering expertise to develop robust production processes, optimize existing operations, and support advanced cable technologies from concept through full-scale production. This position requires close collaboration with Product Development Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Equipment Development teams to drive innovation, improve capability, and ensure successful product launches.
Our TeamYou will be part of the Process Engineering team supporting the RF & Microwave Solutions organization within Molex's Copper Solutions Business Unit. This group drives process innovation, equipment development, manufacturing excellence, and technical problem-solving across a broad range of advanced wire and cable technologies.
What You Will Do Technical Leadership & Process Development- Lead process development activities for new product designs and emerging cable technologies.
- Develop, qualify, and optimize manufacturing processes to support prototype builds, product validation, and production launches.
- Establish process windows and critical operating parameters using scientific and data-driven approaches.
- Utilize Design of Experiments (DOE), statistical analysis, and root cause methodologies to improve process capability and product performance.
- Provide technical leadership during ramp up from prototype to production.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance product quality, throughput, yield, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues and lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts.
- Support and improve manufacturing processes involving fine wire processing; cable extrusion and jacketing; tubing extrusion; braiding; taping and serving operations; and cabling and shield application.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.
- Collaborate with machine development teams to define requirements for new manufacturing equipment.
- Provide technical input for machine control systems, automation strategies, PLC integration, and production monitoring systems.
- Participate in equipment specification, design reviews, factory acceptance testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Support development of next-generation manufacturing technologies and production capabilities.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, process specifications, and validation records.
- Partner with Quality Engineering to support PFMEA development, control plans, corrective actions, and process validation activities.
- Ensure processes comply with internal quality standards and customer requirements.
- Work closely with Product Development Engineering to evaluate manufacturability and improve product designs.
- Support Manufacturing and Operations teams with technical expertise and training.
- Mentor junior engineers and manufacturing personnel on best practices, problem solving, and process control.
- 7+ years of process engineering or manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment.
- Experience in one or more of the following industries:
- wire and cable; RF/microwave components
- fiber optics
- electrical connectors
- aerospace and defense manufacturing
- Experience leading manufacturing process development and product launch activities.
- Working knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment, automation systems, motor drives, and industrial controls.
- Direct experience with small-diameter, high-performance cable manufacturing.
- Extensive extrusion experience involving FEP, PFA, PTFE, ETFE, or other high-temperature fluoropolymers.
- Primary insulation and jacketing extrusion expertise.
- Microwave cable serving and shielding experience.
- Fine wire processing experience.
- Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis experience.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
- Experience specifying, commissioning, and improving automated manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge of data acquisition, machine vision, SPC systems, and advanced process controls.
- Experience in ISO 9001, AS9100, or medical device quality environments.
For this role, we anticipate paying $100,000 - $140,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
