Chatham Police Department – Community Service Officers
The Chatham Police Department is seeking motivated individuals to serve as Community Service Officers. The CSOs work independently and in pairs, primarily in the downtown area of Chatham.
Responsibilities- Community Engagement: helping citizens with basic information about the downtown area and other area attractions, assisting with parking information and supporting local businesses.
- Parking Enforcement: responsible for enforcing parking rules and regulations in the downtown area and at area landings and beaches.
- Supplementing and assisting full‑time officers with their duties as required, including working during special events and traffic control posts.
CSOs will have a “5 days on, 2 days off” schedule during daytime hours. Compensation is $25 per hour. All uniforms are provided; applicants must provide appropriate footwear. All required training will be provided in‑house. The position is for the period of early June through the end of August.
Opportunity for StudentsThis role offers excellent experience for applicants working toward a degree in Criminal Justice or those seeking employment in law enforcement. We are willing to collaborate with college students who may use this opportunity to fulfill internship requirements.
