Police Officer

Applicants must be at least twenty-one years of age, a non-smoker, hold a valid driver's license, have a high school diploma or equivalent and have graduated or are enrolled in a certified MCJTC/MPTC

Academy full-time program. Applicants are subject to physical and psychological examination, as well as an extensive background check.

General responsibilities of a Police Officer include, but are not limited to, enforcing laws, identifying

criminal activities, apprehending offenders, conducting preventative patrols, aiding individuals in danger, facilitating safe movement of traffic and responding to emergency situations. A more comprehensive job description is available upon request.

Minimum starting pay under the current collective bargaining agreement is $64,232 annually ($1,235.24/week), with qualified candidates eligible to start at up to $97,302 annually ($1,871.20/week) based on training, experience, and education. These rates exclude applicable stipends. With scheduled salary increases, by July 2028, a fully qualified officer with a master's degree may earn up to $112,710 annually ($2,167.50/week).
