Job Description Summary

The Large Animal Advanced Diagnostic Imaging Technician A will specialize in Nuclear Medicine. This role is responsible for the safe, accurate, and compliant performance of nuclear scintigraphy and positron emission tomography (PET) studies in large animal patients, including horses and other species. The technician works closely with board-certified radiologists, clinicians, residents, and students to support clinical diagnostics, teaching, and research while maintaining strict adherence to radiation safety regulations and institutional compliance requirements.

This position will also assist in other areas of Imaging‑CT, Radiology, Ultrasound, Cardiology, and MRI.

Job Responsibilities
  • Handle, restrain, and position large animal patients for bone scans and PET studies for clinical and research purposes.
  • Perform all hot lab procedures and receive and check‑in isotope doses.
  • Prepare and inject radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging studies.
  • Operate nuclear imaging equipment and acquire high‑quality images.
  • Process, analyze, and archive imaging data to PACS.
  • Maintain accurate records on multiple platforms.
  • Perform equipment calibration, quality assurance, and maintenance checks.
  • Follow and enforce radiation safety protocols.
  • Assist in teaching vet students, vet techs, residents, and interns.
Qualifications

Horse handling experience is required. An Associate's degree, CVT/RT/CNMT and experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

Sports Medicine Technician A

High School Grad/GE Degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Sports Medicine Technician B

High School Grad/GE Degree and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
