Residential Counselor
Community Resources For Justice, Inc. Wendell, Massachusetts, United States
Job SummaryTo support individuals in attaining the highest quality of life while maintaining their safety across all settings.
Supervisory Responsibilities- None
- Implement Positive Behavior Supports (PBS)
- Report any significant issues using the on-call hierarchy
- Implement and follow individuals’ Behavior Skills Plans
- Implement and follow EO509 Dining Guidelines
- Participate in and complete licensing and certification paperwork, including daily planners, monthly menus, house meetings, budgeting, and medical appointments
- Follow and implement individuals’ daily schedules
- Enhance an individual’s development by providing job coaching
- Maintain appropriate and professional boundaries with the individuals
- Involve individuals in social and vocational opportunities
- Implement Individual Service Plan (ISP) objectives
- Promote a high quality of living for the individuals, assisting with showers, toileting, brushing teeth, laundry, etc.
- Support and accompany individuals in the community, including religious services, hospitals, correctional facilities, courts, support groups, etc.
- Record accurate and quality data on each individual throughout the shift using ICentrix
- Provide supervision and ensure safety in the residence and community
- Promote routine maintenance/housekeeping, including shoveling, mopping, cleaning appliances, etc.
- Provide transportation via company or personal vehicle, following GPS Guidelines
- Perform verbal or physical interventions as needed to ensure safety
- Conduct physical restraints as needed
- Maintain HIPAA, confidentiality, and cyber security compliance
- Maintain extended standing, sitting, running, and lifting as required for safety
- Perform physical restraints as needed
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Accept constructive criticism as a learning tool
- Handle intimate and personal issues with tact and discretion
- Work effectively in a team setting
- Stay awake and alert while on shift at all times
- Flexibility to work at different locations and shifts, including holidays and weekends
- Calmly and patiently manage threatening and assaultive situations
- Act appropriately in emergencies
- Basic computer skills (email, databases, internet, copy, scan, fax)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- PABC (physical restraints) certification
- CPR/First Aid certification
- MAP certification
- DDS licensing and certification required training
- 1 year of residential experience
- Heavy travel – once or more a week
- Heavy travel – once or more a week
