Position SummaryTemporary Speech‑Language Pathologist will provide speech and language services while covering a parental leave. The role is a 6+ month contract open to Clinical Fellowship Year candidates. The position will develop, implement, and evaluate individualized speech and language programming aligned with students’ IEPs. Responsibilities include direct and consultative services, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and application of ABA‑informed practices.
Key Responsibilities Clinical & Educational Services- Conduct assessments (initial, three‑year, AAC) and produce reports.
- Develop and implement individualized goals, objectives, and service delivery models.
- Provide direct therapy and consultative services using best practices in speech‑language pathology and ABA.
- Analyze data and student progress to adjust program timely.
- Review quarterly reports and amend IEPs.
- Program, implement, and support Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems.
- Train staff on AAC use and generalization strategies.
- Support Functional Communication Training and goal generalization across environments.
- Collaborate with teachers, behavior specialists, administrators, families, and external consultants.
- Maintain communication with parents about programming.
- Coordinate schedules for student days, IEP meetings, TEAM meetings, and service delivery.
- Communicate concerns regarding progress, safety, or family needs to leadership.
- Serve as an ambassador for Crossroads Continuum and model professionalism.
- Act as a positive role model for staff and students.
- Supervise and support SLP Assistants.
- Assist the Services Coordinator with staff development and supervision.
- Support hiring efforts and interview staff.
- Lead monthly Speech Consistency Meetings.
- Ensure supervision and safety of assigned students.
- Assist with ADL tasks (toileting, showering) as needed.
- Participate in field trips, community outings, swimming activities, and extracurricular events.
- Transport students and staff to community locations when required.
- Maintain CALM certification and use CALM techniques for safety.
- Maintain accurate documentation (notes, attendance, Medicaid billing).
- Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Current Massachusetts licensure in Speech‑Language Pathology.
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred (minimum 2 years).
- Candidate eligible for a Clinical Fellowship Year is encouraged.
- Experience with ABA‑based treatment for individuals with autism strongly preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and work independently.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Compassionate, patient, dependable, and mission driven.
- Maintain confidentiality and high ethical standards.
- Ability to meet and maintain CALM V&P certification after training.
Position involves active engagement in a school‑based environment and requires the ability to:
- Move quickly to ensure student safety and intervene when necessary.
- Successfully complete CALM training, including lifting up to half body weight, pivoting, squatting, kneeling, prolonged kneeling, standing from kneeling with student weight, shuffling, assisting a student to the floor (school setting only), and stabilizing students in standing, seated, prone, or supine positions (school setting only).
- Experience with AAC devices and programming.
- Comfort working within a highly collaborative, ABA‑informed school environment.
- Ability to adapt quickly and support a student population where ~70% utilize AAC systems.
