Overview

Hartford Healthcare, a not-for-profit healthcare system in Connecticut, is seeking an Interventional Radiologic Technologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department. This role involves collaborating with interventional radiologists, nurses, and other clinical professionals to provide image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare procedure rooms and equipment, verify patient identity and history, and ensure informed consent is in place.
  • Use advanced fluoroscopic and digital imaging systems to position patients, select appropriate technical factors, and acquire high-quality images while adhering to ALARA principles and departmental protocols.
  • Assist physicians during interventional procedures such as angiography, angioplasty, stent placement, embolization, central line and port insertions, and other minimally invasive vascular and non-vascular interventions.
  • Maintain strict sterile technique, manage procedure supplies and contrast media, monitor patient comfort and safety, and respond to changes in patient condition in collaboration with the care team.
  • Document procedures accurately within the electronic medical record, contribute to radiation dose tracking, and ensure images and reports are properly archived.
  • Participate in call rotation, weekend or evening coverage as needed, and respond to emergent cases in the interventional suite or other designated procedural areas.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives, equipment checks, and continuing education to maintain and expand clinical competencies.
  • Support an inclusive environment by communicating clearly with patients, families, and colleagues, educating patients about procedures, and addressing questions to ease anxiety.
