As an Alzheimer's & Dementia Companion with Qualicare, you'll provide specialized, patient-centered support for clients living with memory loss and cognitive decline. Working under the guidance of a Care Coordinator, you'll bring structure, comfort, and connection to each day — helping clients feel safe, valued, and understood, while giving their families real peace of mind.
What You'll Do- Provide patient, reassuring support with personal hygiene and daily routines
- Prepare meals suited to client needs and preferences
- Maintain a clean, calm, and clutter-free living space
- Accompany clients on outings, errands, and appointments
- Offer gentle reminders and assistance with medications
- Support safe mobility and transportation
- Engage clients in memory-friendly activities, conversation, and companionship
- Use redirection and calming techniques to help ease confusion, anxiety, or agitation
- Follow individualized care plans designed around each client's cognitive needs
- Maintain accurate documentation, including behavioral and condition changes
- A dementia certification or willingness to obtain
- Experience with Alzheimer's, dementia, or memory care is a strong plus
- Patience, empathy, and a calm presence in challenging moments
- Current CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to complete training
- A clear TB test or chest x-ray
- Reliable transportation to travel within your service area
- A working phone and internet access
