Life Skills Support Professional 1 (Human Services)

Springfield, MA, US

Salary: $22.00 per hour

Full Time, 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday 8:30 am–3:30 pm

Summary

Work directly with and alongside adults with disabilities and developmental delays on social and communication skills, activities of daily living, and building esteem. Organize, coordinate, implement, and structure activity units to provide such opportunities for program members. Assist with personal care and participation in community activities. Provide support and training to members in accordance with ISP goals and objectives. Experience in direct care, residential care, human services, day program, or DDS is strongly encouraged.

Responsibilities
  • Work directly with adults with disabilities and developmental delays to develop social and communication skills.
  • Assist with activities of daily living and self‑esteem building.
  • Organize, coordinate, implement, and structure activity units for program participation.
  • Provide personal care support and participation in community activities.
  • Support and train members in accordance with Individual Service Plan (ISP) goals and objectives.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent with at least one year of human services experience; or an associate’s degree in a related field with 0–1 year of experience.
Requirements
  • Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver’s license, minimum three years of driving experience, good driving record, and willingness to transport participants in a personal or agency vehicle.
  • Ability to lift and transfer members up to 150 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel within the region to access residential settings, employers, offices, and community organizations.
