Human Resources Generalist
Schedule:
Monday – Friday 8 AM – 4 PMSalary: 60,000 – 70,000 per year (depending on education and experience)
Position Summary The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and company policies. This position serves as a resource to employees and managers by providing guidance on employment matters, coordinating onboarding and recruiting efforts, maintaining personnel records, administering benefits, conducting workplace investigations, and fostering positive employee relations.
The HR Generalist plays a key role in creating a professional, compliant, and employee-focused workplace that supports the organization’s mission of providing exceptional behavioral healthcare.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Onboarding & Employee Lifecycle Coordinate all pre-employment and onboarding activities for new hires.
Prepare offer letters and new hire documentation.
Facilitate new employee orientation and ensure timely completion of required onboarding tasks.
Verify employment eligibility and complete Form I-9 documentation.
Coordinate background checks, CORI checks, OIG exclusions, license verification, and reference checks.
Ensure all required credentials and compliance documents are received prior to employment.
Process employee status changes including promotions, transfers, leaves of absence, and separations.
Conduct exit interviews and coordinate offboarding procedures.
Employee Relations Serve as a trusted resource for employees and supervisors regarding workplace concerns.
Assist managers with performance management, coaching, disciplinary actions, and corrective action documentation.
Promote respectful workplace practices and conflict resolution.
Respond to employee questions regarding company policies and procedures.
Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee information.
Support employee recognition, engagement, and retention initiatives.
Workplace Investigations Conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations involving employee complaints, policy violations, harassment, discrimination, workplace misconduct, attendance concerns, and other employee relations matters.
Interview employees and witnesses while documenting findings objectively.
Review evidence including documentation, electronic communications, schedules, time records, and other relevant information.
Prepare written investigation summaries and recommendations.
Partner with HR leadership to determine appropriate corrective actions while ensuring consistency and legal compliance.
Benefits Administration Assist employees with benefit enrollment and eligibility questions.
Coordinate new hire, qualifying life event, and annual open enrollment processes.
Process benefit changes with insurance carriers and HRIS systems.
Assist employees with leave programs including FMLA, Massachusetts PFML, ADA accommodations, Workers’ Compensation, and other protected leaves.
Maintain accurate benefit records and documentation.
Recruiting & Talent Acquisition Post job openings across recruitment platforms.
Screen applications and coordinate interviews.
Communicate with candidates throughout the hiring process.
Participate in job fairs and recruitment events.
Maintain applicant tracking records.
Support hiring managers in identifying qualified candidates.
Compliance Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
Assist with Joint Commission, BSAS, DMH, DPH, OSHA, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements as applicable.
Monitor employee licenses, certifications, annual trainings, and required documentation.
Maintain accurate HR records in accordance with legal retention requirements.
Assist with HR audits and regulatory inspections.
Support policy development and implementation.
Personnel Files & HR Records Maintain complete, organized, and confidential employee personnel files.
Ensure personnel records are accurate, current, and compliant with record retention requirements.
Process employment verification requests.
Maintain HRIS data integrity and employee information.
