Responsibilities

  • Comply with all Security guidelines, Environmental, Health and Safety regulations, Training and the current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) required by the job function.
  • Ensure continuity of supply for cGMP direct materials for biologics manufacturing at the Devens site. Participate in open order review reports and conference calls with critical suppliers, triage and resolve escalations, and mitigate supply risks for assigned direct materials. Collaborate with Supply Planning, Biologics Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering & Support, Material Science & Technology and Quality departments to understand part requirements, potential alternatives, and other risk mitigation opportunities.

    Facilitate discussions with suppliers and key internal stakeholders to mitigate delivery risk.
  • Lead new supplier and part qualification processes for assigned categories of materials by collecting supplier documentation, requesting quotations, initiating vendor master setups, negotiating, reviewing and scoring suppliers in the RFP process, and providing stakeholder feedback for new or expanding sources of supply. Participate in standardization of raw materials and consumables across the site and the network to drive efficiencies, cross‑site safety stock, cost savings and reduced business continuity risk.
  • Create initial standard costs for new materials and submit to finance. Apply conversion factors for various units of measure in SAP. Maintain Procurement SAP Master Data including ASL, Purchasing Info Records, Outline Agreements, Source Lists, Lead Times, and occasionally process purchase requisitions, purchase orders and order confirmations as a backup. Manage the Source List for multi‑sourced parts to allow MRP to properly plan and forecast requirements by part and supplier.
  • Identify and manage local suppliers, implement best practices, and ensure local viewpoints are included in larger global procurement initiatives. Lead regional/sub‑category strategy development and execution in conjunction with the relevant category lead. Participate in Supplier Relationship Management programs and develop effective relationships with key suppliers to build mutual respect, trust and performance that align with BMS values and behaviours.
  • Engage with Supplier Quality and Supplier Performance and Development colleagues for supplier quality issues, returns, complaints and CAPAs.
  • Achieve and exceed metrics including value‑beyond savings, purchase price variance (PPV), receipt‑to‑promise (RTP) and other relevant KPIs. Continuously evolve KPIs as needed to measure areas requiring improvement.
  • Participate in the annual budget process for site operations, working closely with peers, category leaders, site finance, site supply chain and Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Finance for standard cost analysis. Assign reason codes to the PPV tool on a monthly basis in Tableau and provide monthly projections as required.
  • Support cGMP or Finance audit activities, maintaining timely control of documents and data to assure accurate record retention, audit compliance and governance.
Qualifications
  • Required Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Minimum 4 years of work experience in Procurement, Supply Chain and/or Planning, with direct procurement experience required.
  • Procurement supporting Tech Transfers experience preferred.
  • Lean and Six Sigma experience preferred (e.g., yellow, green, black belt).
  • Exceptional communication skills to engage multiple levels within the company and with suppliers.
  • Highly experienced in the SAP Procurement module; additional experience in Supply Chain, MRP Planning and Inventory modules strongly preferred. Proficiency in other ERP systems may be acceptable.
  • Previous cross‑functional collaboration and continuous improvement approach to change.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience using ARIBA desired.
  • Procurement skills such as developing supplier relationships, facilitating cross‑functional meetings, escalating critical supply issues, and analysing and reporting on supplier performance.
