Job Summary
The Director is a critical role within the US Medical Affairs (USMA) organization that reports to the Vice President. The role has tactical accountability grounded in science, disease state, and competitive clinical data in support of one or more products, and supports the development and ongoing updates to relevant product‑specific medical strategies, in partnership with the Vice President and Medical Unit.
As designated by the Vice President, the Director serves as a subject‑matter expert (SME) representing the USMA at the global level for a product or franchise, participates in internal committees, and drives overall medical unit insights, including advisory board strategy and communication to cross‑functional partners.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities- Overall responsibilities:
- Tactical accountability grounded in science, disease state, competitive clinical data for assigned products.
- Adjudicate focus areas to support organizational priorities.
- Collaborate with Vice President/Sr. Director(s) to oversee execution of medical strategies and partner with the PM to track progress against strategic plans, including development and communication of periodic reports.
- Execute against the US Product medical strategy:
- Lead/co‑develop/coordinate with the medical unit and provide medical input into the near‑term strategic direction for assigned product/franchise.
- Support development and ongoing updates to product‑specific medical strategies, in partnership with Vice President/Sr. Director(s) and in alignment with commercial brand strategy and global product teams.
- Develop long‑term lifecycle management strategy and tactics (e.g., HEOR).
- Collaborate with PM to develop and maintain medical landscape and insights to inform strategy.
- Medical Expertise:
- Serve as the in‑house medical and scientific expert for therapies within assigned therapeutic area.
- Generate insights and support execution of advisory board strategy, in partnership with PM if applicable.
- Synthesize insights and implications from relevant sources (ad boards, field medical) to medical unit, cross‑functional stakeholders, updating medical landscape and strategy.
- External Engagement:
- Support insights from advisory boards, professional associations, meetings, conferences, etc.
- Manage global interactions with US KOLs and vice‑versa, subject to delegation.
- Execution / Content Creation:
- Partner with medical unit functional leads to ensure strategic alignment in executing franchise/product medical strategy and its translation into tactics (e.g., grants, medical communications, publications, research, field medical).
- Support medical review of appropriate materials as part of medical and commercial review processes.

- Advanced doctoral degree (MD, DO, PhD, PharmD) or other advanced degreed professional considered, and at least 4 years pharmaceutical industry experience, and/or clinical work, research, or academic endeavors.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with clinical research, publication activities, congress presentations, and public speaking.
- Maintain minimum standards of education/certification in individual professional discipline.
- Periodic travel up to 30%.

Actual base salary may vary based on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. Salary complies with state and local minimum wage requirements.
