Overview
The Associate Director, Parking and Transportation provides strategic leadership and oversight for University-wide parking operations and transportation services. This role focuses on enhancing customer service, technology, and processes to support institutional goals and objectives, and involves strategic planning, policy development, and interdepartmental collaboration.
Responsibilities- Plan, develop, market, innovate, and implement projects, programs, and policies to improve alternative transportation programs, operational efficiencies, and customer experience, with the goal of reducing campus vehicles in partnership with the Office of Sustainability, RSMAS, and Medical Campuses.
- Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction; engage with campus Event Liaisons, Parking and Transportation Advisory Board, Student Government, Facilities Operations & Planning, Student Affairs, Faculty Senate, HR, UMPD, Miami Parking Authority, City of Coral Gables Parking Department, City of South Miami Parking Department, and other agencies to develop and implement recommendations related to parking and events management.
- Collaborate with senior management to align departmental goals with University objectives; continuously assess and improve internal controls and compliance measures.
- Chair and administer the appeals process with two faculty and two students to review and adjudicate submitted appeals in a timely manner; provide training and resources for appeals committee members.
- Manage and maintain transportation services including shuttle, mobility, and event services; oversee multi-modal programs such as U-Bike, rideshare contracts, Zipcar, carpool, safe ride, and transit programs.
- Coordinate transportation for on-campus programs and during emergency events; promote alternative transportation options and reduce campus vehicle usage.
- Organize post-event debriefs for analysis of prestigious, large-audience, and complex events; conduct site inspections for operational efficiency, service quality, and attendee satisfaction; provide on-site support and reinforce DIRECCT values.
- Manage financial forecasting and monthly reporting of Event Services budget; provide strategic recommendations for efficiency and identify new revenue opportunities.
- Handle essential personnel duties as Essential Personnel Tier 1; perform other duties as assigned.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Certification and Licensing: CAPP or CPP Certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 12 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: Knowledge of business and management principles; ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations; ability to establish department goals and objectives; ability to plan, delegate, supervise, lead, motivate, develop and train others.
- Department Addendum (Coral Gables campus) – Functions: Oversees customer experience programs and service delivery platforms, including Salesforce case management, service analytics, process improvement, automation, and customer-facing technologies; provide direct customer service; oversee event parking and traffic control for multiple concurrent events; represent the department in governance groups; act as internal quality control and lead audit processes; manage annual operating budget; analyze financial reports;
identify new revenue opportunities; oversee all parking facilities and transportation services; manage vendor contracts and relationships; lead sustainable transportation initiatives; ensure compliance with SOPs and University policies; manage hiring, discipline, and performance reviews; lead technology strategy for Parking & Transportation systems; coordinate with Facilities & Operations on facilities, assets, and parking infrastructure; ensure data entry accuracy for all team members. - Qualifications –

Ability to leverage technology, data analytics, and process improvement to enhance efficiency; ability to build collaborative relationships with students, faculty, staff, leadership, and external agencies; strong budgeting, revenue management, contract administration, vendor oversight, and strategic planning capabilities.
