Location: Woburn, MA (On-site, Factory Based)

Job Type: Full-time

Overview

Xico Lighting is hiring a Materials, Kitting & Logistics Manager to own the day-to-day execution of material readiness in our manufacturing facility.

This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for ensuring that materials are planned, purchased, kitted, inventoried, and shipped correctly so production can run without disruption.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a factory environment, likes being close to the work, and takes pride in making operations reliable.

Key Responsibilities

Materials Planning & Readiness:

  • Convert production requirements into clear material needs.
  • Ensure materials are available in the right quantity and at the right time.
  • Identify shortages, constraints, and risks early.
  • Prevent material issues from reaching the assembly line.

Kitting & Production Support (Core Focus):

  • Own kitting accuracy, completeness, and staging.
  • Enforce a “no incomplete kits” standard.
  • Set daily kitting priorities aligned to the materials plan.
  • Prevent parts from being pulled outside approved kits.
  • Reduce assembly downtime caused by missing or incorrect materials.

Purchasing & Supplier Follow-Through:

  • Manage daily purchasing execution and expediting.
  • Track supplier lead times and delivery commitments.
  • Follow up with vendors to ensure on‑time delivery.
  • Escalate supplier delays and quality issues proactively.

Inventory Management:

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and locations.
  • Ensure physical inventory matches system inventory.
  • Improve organization, labeling, and accessibility.
  • Support cycle counts and discrepancy resolution.

Shipping & Logistics:

  • Oversee outbound shipping and logistics execution.
  • Coordinate carriers and freight.
  • Ensure shipments are accurate and on time.
  • Support inbound logistics as needed.

Team Leadership

  • Directly manage materials planning, purchasing, inventory, and kitting staff.
  • Provide clear priorities and daily direction.
  • Hold the team accountable for execution and follow-through.
  • Build structure, discipline, and consistency in materials operations.
What This Role Does NOT Own
  • Master production scheduling.
  • Customer delivery commitments.
  • Product definition or pricing.
  • Engineering change control.
  • Factory process or manufacturing engineering.

This role focuses on execution and readiness, not strategy or redesign.

Qualifications Required
  • 5+ years experience in materials management, logistics, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience supporting assembly or production environments.
  • Experience managing buyers, planners, or inventory staff.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Comfortable working on the factory floor daily.
  • Willing to enforce standards and say "this is not ready".
Preferred
  • Experience with kitting or production support.
  • Experience expediting suppliers and freight.
  • ERP / MRP or inventory system experience.
  • Background in manufacturing, industrial, or engineered products.
What Success Looks Like:
Within the first 90 days
  • Clear ownership of materials, kits, and shipping.
  • Improved kit completeness and reliability.
  • Reduced production downtime due to material shortages.
  • Improved inventory accuracy and organization.
  • More predictable and stable material flow.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary.
  • Generous 401K matching.
  • Bonus opportunity tied to execution and reliability.

  • Performance measured on execution and results.
Plain-English Summary

If production is waiting on parts, kits, or shipments — this role owns fixing it. If a kit isn’t ready, it doesn’t go to the line. This role makes materials readiness reliable.
