Job Overview

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing production teams and ensuring that fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, and coating processes are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards. This role plays a key part in executing production plans, supporting team development, and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily production activities and lead a team of skilled workers, ensuring SQDCIP, safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory, and productivity goals are achieved.
  • Assign work according to production schedules and adjust labor/resources as needed to meet deadlines.
  • Monitor workflow and provide hands‑on support to resolve bottlenecks, equipment issues, or quality concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies, PPE use, and OSHA regulations; foster a strong safety culture.
  • Train, coach, and evaluate team members; promote cross‑training and employee development.
  • Enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality control measures.
  • Collaborate with engineering, planning, quality, and maintenance teams to support smooth production flow.
  • Track and report daily performance metrics such as output, scrap, downtime, and attendance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives including Lean Manufacturing and 5S.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Execute and maintain initiatives to ensure compliance with safety and OSHA regulations and policies.
  • Promote and sustain safety programs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or technical degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in manufacturing environment with at least 3 years in supervisory role, preferably with metal fabrication or custom products.
  • Strong leadership and team‑building skills with a hands‑on approach.
  • Familiarity with fabrication, welding, machining, and/or coatings processes.
  • Working knowledge of safety standards and manufacturing best practices.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Competency with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling tools.
  • Competency with CAD software, Solid Works, AutoCAD, and CNC programming.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and shifts as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a job‑shop or make‑to‑order production environment.
  • Lean Manufacturing or supervisory training certifications.
  • Working knowledge of ASME, AWS, AISC, and ISO 9001.
