We are seeking an experienced Chemicals Department Supervisor to lead our chemical manufacturing operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a safety-focused leader with a strong background in chemical processing, production supervision, and continuous improvement.
The Chemicals Department Supervisor is responsible for managing a three-shift chemical production operation at our North Attleboro facility. This position oversees the production of Potassium Gold Cyanide, Silver Cyanide salts, wet blending solutions, and dry blending operations while coordinating material flow between production and wastewater operations.
The successful candidate will ensure safe manufacturing practices, regulatory compliance, product quality, production efficiency, and employee development while maintaining a strong culture of safety.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support a three-shift chemical manufacturing operation.
- Supervise, coach, train, and develop production employees while fostering a positive safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, quality, and company policies.
- Work closely with technical and engineering personnel to improve manufacturing processes and enhance safety.
- Develop and communicate weekly production schedules across multiple shifts.
- Coordinate activities with Production, Laboratory, Wastewater, Shipping, and other departments.
- Monitor raw material inventories and requisition production supplies to support manufacturing schedules.
- Manage department budgets and production goals.
- Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Quality Management System requirements.
- Investigate and resolve production issues while supporting employees in troubleshooting process challenges.
- Monitor production equipment and coordinate maintenance requests as needed.
- Partner with engineering to collect production data and support continuous improvement projects.
- Maintain clean, organized, and compliant work areas.
- Perform supervisory and production duties during staffing shortages or employee absences.
- Support updates to operating procedures and work instructions as processes evolve.
- Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Minimum 10 years of supervisory experience in a chemical manufacturing or similar processing environment.
- Strong background in chemical processing and safe chemical handling.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and environmental compliance.
- Ability to safely oversee chemical processes involving precious metals.
- Working knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS/SDS) and chemical safety regulations.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Ability to make sound operational and personnel decisions.
- Experience coordinating work across multiple departments.
- Strong mathematical aptitude for production calculations and process consistency.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SAP, and manufacturing databases.
- Experience supporting engineering projects is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry preferred.
- Equivalent experience will be considered with at least 10 years of relevant chemical manufacturing experience.
- Chemical and/or metals industry training preferred.
- Formal training in safe chemical handling is required.
