The Manufacturing Production Control Support role is responsible for coordinating, tracking, and supporting daily production activities within the Final Assembly area of the final assembly department. This position ensures production schedules are executed efficiently; materials and information are available at point-of-use, and priorities are clearly communicated to meet customer delivery, quality, and productivity targets.

The role acts as a key link between Production Control, Final Assembly, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality to support smooth workflow for custom and standard lighting products.

Key Responsibilities

Production Scheduling & Execution

  • Support the daily and weekly production schedule for Final Assembly based on customer demand, capacity, and material availability
  • Monitor production progress versus schedule and expedite delays or constraints
  • Reprioritize work orders as needed to support ship dates and expedite requests
  • Act as the primary production control contact for Final Assembly supervisors and team leads
  • Ensure work instructions, drawings, and BOMs are current and available
  • Help resolve issues related to missing parts, incorrect documentation, or order discrepancies
  • Support line balancing and workload leveling in a mixed-model, high-variability environment

Material & Inventory Coordination

  • Coordinate with Material Planning, Purchasing, and Stockroom to ensure timely availability of components (extrusions, drivers, optics, wiring, housings, packaging)
  • Track shortages and support root cause analysis for material-related downtime
  • Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, transaction audits, and reconciliation

Data Tracking & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate production status in ERP/MRP systems
  • Track key metrics such as schedule adherence, WIP levels, throughput, and on-time completion
  • Prepare daily production reports and communicate status to Operations and Production Control
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives (5S, visual controls, standard work, kanban)
  • Participate in process improvement projects to reduce lead time, WIP, and production variation
  • Assist with implementation of ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) in Final Assembly

Qualifications (Required)

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years' experience in manufacturing support, production control, or scheduling
  • Experience working in a final assembly or build-to-order manufacturing environment
  • Basic understanding of ERP/MRP systems and shop floor transactions
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Preferred

  • Experience in lighting, electronics, or electromechanical assembly manufacturing
  • Familiarity with linear lighting products (LED fixtures, drivers, extrusions)
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Business, Supply Chain, or related field
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement exposure
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills
  • Attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Comfortable working directly on the production floor
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis
  • Clear and professional communication across departments
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Schedule adherence (Final Assembly)
  • WIP accuracy and control
  • ERP transaction accuracy
  • Manufacturing floor and office environment
  • Regular interaction with production associates and supervisors
  • May require standing, walking the floor, and light material handling
  • Occasional overtime to support peak production periods
