We are seeking a creative, organized, and digitally savvy Marketing & Publicity Assistant to join our Adult Marketing team. This role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about books, enjoys both creative and administrative work, and is eager to build a career in publishing, marketing, and publicity.
Position OverviewThe Marketing & Publicity Assistant supports the development and execution of marketing and publicity campaigns for titles across the Quarto Adult publishing list. Working closely with marketers, publicists, authors, influencers, media contacts, and internal departments, this role assists with digital marketing initiatives, publicity outreach, social media campaigns, award submissions, and large-scale promotional mailings.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced publishing environment.
Key Responsibilities Marketing & Publicity Support- Assist in the execution of digital marketing campaigns, including social media promotions, email marketing, and influencer outreach.
- Support planning and implementation of social media marketing initiatives across Quarto Books' social channels.
- Produce marketing materials including press releases, media kits, advertising copy, and supplemental promotional content.
- Coordinate and execute book mailings to media, influencers, booksellers, librarians, educators, and other key audiences.
- Maintain and update databases of media, influencer, academic, and industry contacts.
- Organize award submissions for adult titles.
- Build academic and library contact lists to support adoption and outreach campaigns.
- Assist title marketers and the Group Marketing Manager with campaign tracking, reporting, and performance analysis.
Gather and present marketing results and insights from campaigns and promotional activities.
- Communicate marketing initiatives, developments, and accomplishments across the organization.
- Coordinate materials and information needed to support author events, media outreach, and promotional opportunities.
- Perform administrative duties that support the Marketing & Publicity department, including database management, scheduling, and project coordination.
- Assist with other projects and responsibilities as needed.
- 1-2 years of professional experience, internships, or relevant marketing/publicity experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, project management, and time-management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and execution skills.
- Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively.
- Highly creative with an interest in developing innovative marketing ideas.
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms and current digital marketing trends.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow in a dynamic environment.
- Passion for books and the publishing industry.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Experience with Box, Dropbox, or similar file-sharing platforms.
- Publishing industry experience is a plus but not required.
- Existing relationships with independent bookstores or knowledge of the bookselling landscape is a plus.
