Overview
With donations from markets and local farms, the Family Table Collaborative (FTC) produces and delivers nutritious, delicious meals to those experiencing poverty and provides nutritional education to emphasize the positive impact healthy food has on physical and mental health. When incomes drop and family budgets shrink, food choices shift toward cheaper but more energy-dense foods. Many have become reliant on prepared food that is usually of poor quality, high in fat, salt, and sugar, highly processed and full of preservatives.
FTC is working to change that norm through the combination of our prepared meals and access to nutritional education and hands‑on cooking classes. We identify and leverage ways to make cooking easier and more affordable, thereby creating sustainable and meaningful change.
The VISTA project will build the capacity of FTC with the development of new financial resources to both sustain and grow FTC food programs and conduct community outreach to improve visibility and availability of FTC food programs. The VISTA will have the opportunity to enhance their grant‑writing skills, go out into the community to meet new people and join a team of dedicated individuals.
MemberDuties
The VISTA member will foster donor relationships and create a system for identifying funding opportunities to strengthen FTC’s financial foundation and create sustainable programming. The VISTA will work closely with the team to engage with community members, build lasting relationships, and develop a comprehensive database to identify and track potential donors and grants. The VISTA will also engage local organizations and the community to form partnerships that enhance the reach and effectiveness of FTC initiatives.
