Truro Community Kitchen (TCK) is a volunteer‑driven nonprofit that provides free, nourishing meals to residents of Truro, MA, who are facing food insecurity or isolation. Founded in 2020, TCK has delivered over 85,000 meals and serves roughly 10 % of the local population. The Community Engagement VISTA will help expand TCK’s reach, secure a permanent kitchen, and strengthen partnerships with local governments, schools, health providers, and other nonprofits in the Outer Cape.
Responsibilities- Build relationships with town agencies, food‑access coalitions, and other nonprofits to identify gaps and overlaps in service.
- Coordinate data and improve community outreach to expand TCK’s impact, particularly in underserved areas.
- Assist in identifying a permanent kitchen location by drafting use scenarios and budget estimates.
- Engage with local farmers, fishers, and grocers to reduce food waste by redirecting excess supply.
- Attend community events, craft outreach materials, and develop communication strategies to ensure TCK’s services are known, accessible, and trusted throughout the region.
- Three meals provided weekly.
