Our Mission:
Community Policing
For over 20 years, the Boston Police Department (BPD) has been a leader in Community Policing initiatives. Through the core principles of partnership, prevention, and problem-solving, BPD has contributed to both a lower crime rate and a reduction in arrests in the city.
Community policing begins with positive interactions on the streets and in classrooms. It involves proactive prevention, diversion programs for at-risk youth and families, and provides pathways away from violence for those ready to make a change. BPD is working every day with the community to strengthen relationships, with a focus on building trust with youth. Prioritizing these relationships is key to fostering trust and safety in our neighborhoods.

- Collaboration with BPD Teams:
Work closely with other BPD officers and community leaders to coordinate initiatives that support the goals of community policing.
Job Skills and Qualities:
- A strong command of temper and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to work well with others in a team-oriented environment.
- Capability to engage effectively with peers and younger youth.
- Ability to resolve conflicts in a positive way, always emphasizing communication with supervisors.
- Report to work on time and consistently meet attendance requirements.
