Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the Deerfield family giving program, including identifying and securing parent leadership annual gifts at the $25,000 level and above.
- Manage the family leadership giving society and portfolio of approximately 100 current family prospects.
- Plan small donor‑focused events on and off campus.
- Plan and execute the Senior Parent Campaign for a capital project, meeting the stated goal each year.
- Identify, recruit, and effectively manage Senior Parent Campaign gift chairs, and act as an Advancement staff liaison to the Deerfield Parent Network.
- Collaborate with Research to identify new parent prospects, and work with gift officers on parent fundraising.
- Coordinate with the Director of the Deerfield Fund to establish an annual parent Deerfield Fund goal.
- Work with the Office of Communications to develop electronic and mail solicitation appeals to families.
- Track and report on all prospect activity; update contact and biographical information on a timely basis; submit contact reports with a high degree of accuracy and clarity.
- Support and collaborate with Deerfield Parent Network volunteers as they organize and conduct regionally based receptions to welcome new parents.
- Participate in leadership gift officer meetings and other fundraising and reunion meetings as appropriate.
- Participate in and contribute to the success of weekend and evening Advancement activities on and off campus.
- Conduct at least 100 face‑to‑face prospect visits per year and in collaboration with the Director of Advancement, establish and meet annual portfolio dollar and proposal goals.
- Supervise the Assistant Director of Family Engagement and Giving and the Assistant to Family Engagement and Giving.
- Effectively manage overall work performance, objectives and career development of Family Engagement and Giving team members, including review and development of individual job skills.
- Accurately report employee time and attendance to Human Resources.
- In collaboration with the Human Resources Office, coordinate the recruitment, orientation and training of new employees to ensure optimal staffing, according to Academy Best Practices in Hiring.

Job Specifications- Bachelor's degree required.
- 5–7 years of fundraising or similar related work experience required, preferably in an educational institution.
- Demonstrated success in cultivation and solicitation of major donor prospects.
- A proven track record as a successful manager of teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate volunteers.
- An open and collaborative leadership style.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a strong team.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, fundraising CRMs (Raisers Edge/Almabase/Blackbaud), data analytics, and reporting experience required.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
- Ability to manage, and sensitivity to, highly confidential information.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
- Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required in support of Advancement.
- Close visual acuity to analyze data and figures and to view a computer terminal.
- Ability to sustain substantial movements of the wrist, hands and/or fingers.
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 10 lbs.
- Ability to occasionally stoop, kneel and reach.
The worker is in an office environment, and while in the office is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. While traveling, the worker is subject to outside environmental conditions.
Compensation & BenefitsDeerfield Academy offers a competitive total compensation package, with a base compensation or salary within the published range determined by factors such as qualifications, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience, allowing for growth and progression within the role. Sign‑on bonus: $1,000 ($500 at hire and $500 after 90 days of employment).
