The Development Director is responsible for leading, managing, and growing HOW's Development Program while building the strategy and infrastructure to support long-term fundraising goals. As a member of the leadership team, the Development Director works closely with the Executive Director, Chief of Staff, Development Committee, and key stakeholders to strengthen donor engagement, expand fundraising opportunities, and advance HOW's mission.
The Development Director provides day-to-day leadership and guidance to communications staff to support consistent, mission-aligned messaging and coordinates the work of the donor database consultant/manager to support effective development operations and donor stewardship. The position may also supervise interns, volunteers, and future development staff as assigned. The ideal candidate is a strategic, collaborative leader skilled at building trust-based relationships, with strong ties to the Cape & Islands and a passion for HOW's mission.
The first year will focus on relationship building and foundational strategy, establishing the groundwork for sustainable fundraising growth. Key priorities include partnering with the Executive Director, Chief of Staff, and Development Committee to achieve annual fundraising goals; cultivating donor relationships to inform future major gift strategies; developing and launching an updated business sponsorship program; collaborating with a committee to plan a signature fundraising initiative anticipated for 2028;
and partnering with the donor database consultant/manager to assess development operations and identify opportunities for improvement.

Location: Helping Our Women resource centers in Provincetown and North Eastham
Pay Range: $90,000-$110,000
Essential FunctionsDevelop and execute fundraising and development strategies in collaboration with the Executive Director and Chief of Staff, along with input from the Board’s Development Committee.
Manage grants, applications, and reporting, cultivating a robust pipeline of grant opportunities in collaboration with the Executive Director.
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, and foundation donors to increase annual philanthropic support.
Establish short- and long-term fundraising strategies and measurable objectives aligned with the organization's priorities and goals.
Oversee fundraising process and standardize procedures.
Ensure donor database is maintained and oversee gift processing and social media efforts.
Strengthen the Board’s fundraising capacity.
Meet nonprofit financial compliance requirements and demonstrate thorough understanding of grant and organizational budgets.
Work with Executive Director and Development Committee to plan successful fundraising events .
Effectively represent the organization in public in collaboration with staff or board members.
Perform other duties and activities as assigned.
Knowledge &Skills Required:
Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and best practices
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Experience working with all donors and demonstrated experience cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
Familiarity with online fundraising, email marketing, prospect research, and planned giving.
Effective time and project management skills, with exceptional writing and presentation abilities.

Adaptability: respond quickly and well to change and manage competing demands effectively.
