Job Summary
CPS is seeking a RN’s and LPN’s to oversee healthcare delivery at the Bristol County Jail. Correctional nurses are part of a multi-disciplinary team providing medical and mental health treatment. Correctional nursing provides opportunities to develop a broad spectrum of nursing skills providing treatment in the areas of emergency medicine, chronic disease, detoxification, mental illness and prenatal care.
Responsibilities- Provide nursing care and treatment to inmates as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
- Deliver medical and mental health services, including emergency care, chronic disease management, detoxification, and prenatal care.
- Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and progress.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with healthcare protocols and facility policies.
- Collaborate with medical, mental health, and correctional staff to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in developing individualized treatment plans and care strategies for patients.
- Maintain compliance with state, federal, and facility regulations related to healthcare delivery.
- Educate patients on health management, disease prevention, and wellness practices.
- Full-time, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, 40 hours per week. Includes every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday) and rotating holiday coverage.
- Full-time, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM, 40 hours per week. Includes every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday) and rotating holiday coverage.

Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move over 35 pounds.
- Regularly able to adequately perform CPR.
- Graduate from a national or state approved school of vocational nursing.
- Currently licensed to practice as an RN or LPN in the state of Massachusetts.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to apply principles of nursing care.
- Recognition of signs and symptoms of mental illness, emotional disturbance, or chemical dependency. Holds current CPR certification.
- Compensation ranges from $39.00 to $56.50 per hour, with the higher end reflecting applicable shift differentials. Rates are based on nursing license and years of experience.
