Position: RN, Outpatient Endoscopy (Per Diem)
Location: North FalmouthJob Summary
Coordinates total nursing care for patients and participates in patient and family teaching, pre‑procedure, intra‑procedure and post‑procedure activities. Demonstrates leadership by working cooperatively with all patient‑care team personnel to maintain professional nursing standards.
Responsibilities
Practice according to entity mandatory requirements.Practice according to department expectations and best practice standards of care.Use a customer‑service approach to all activities.Participate in ongoing performance‑improvement programs.Care for patients using the nursing process with an interdisciplinary approach.Provide effective patient and family teaching throughout the spectrum of care, initiating discharge planning at the time of admission.Assess patients for actual and potential problems and continually update assessments.Document patient diagnoses derived from health assessment, history, and interviews.Administer medications safely, including moderate sedation within hospital guidelines under the direction of the physician.Manage patient pain.Utilize chemical and physical restraints per policy.Identify signs and symptoms of neglect/abuse and report as required by law.Care for terminally ill patients and families, respecting patient advance directives.Address age‑specific needs of infants, toddlers, school‑age children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.Perform cardiovascular assessment.Assess the physical, mental, and psychosocial status of patients.Assist physicians with minor/local surgical procedures, including pain‑management interventions.Assist physicians with gastroenterology procedures such as colonoscopy with polypectomy, biopsy, splinting during colonoscopy, esophageal dilations, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy, bandings, and electrocautery procedures including argon plasma coagulation, clipping, and subcutaneous injections.Perform pre‑ and post‑procedure phone calls.Provide care for post‑procedure patients.Maintain appropriate licenses, certifications, and registrations required for the designated role/position.Demonstrate proficiency in computerized nursing informatics.Qualifications
- Must read, write, and communicate in English.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- BLS certification.
- Successful passage of FH’s pharmacology exam.
- Successful passage of the Basic Arrhythmia Program or challenge exam.
- ACLS certification within three months.
- Moderate Sedation certification within three months.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of current endoscopy experience within the last five years.
Schedule Details
Per diem hours, rotating days, occasional weekends & occasional holidays.
Location
Falmouth, Massachusetts – Falmouth Hospital Association (FHA‑N Falmouth Endo).
Pay Range
The pay range shown on each job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. This is not inclusive of the value of Cape Cod Healthcare’s benefits package (if applicable), which includes among other benefits, healthcare/dental/vision and retirement.
For hourly salaries this is based on full‑time employment.
Hourly $44.51 – $75.56.
