Overview

As an MDS Coordinator you will oversee the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process, ensuring accurate and timely completion of MDS assessments from scheduling through final submission to the MDS analysis vendor and CMS. You will collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team, serve as a trusted clinical resource, and provide education and guidance on the RAI process and documentation requirements.

Compensation

Annual salary of $100,000–$110,000 plus eligibility for an annual bonus.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate completion of MDS for skilled nursing/long‑term care residents.
  • Monitor compliance relating to MDS completion and transmission.
  • Maintain and share expertise on Medicare reimbursement.
  • Partner with therapy, finance and other departments to ensure accurate and timely billing related to the MDS.
  • Complete MDS audits to verify documentation supports reimbursement standards; review trends and develop corrective actions.
  • Utilize the Electronic Medical Record system per Erickson standards to manage and complete the MDS and Care Plan process.
  • Educate skilled nursing staff on MDS processes and documentation requirements.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse licensed in the state.
  • Minimum two years of experience in Continuing Care.
  • In‑depth knowledge of MDS processes, including MDS, RAPs, Care Planning and Utilization Review.
  • Experience documenting in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred.
  • Successful completion of AANAC MDS Coordinator Certification.
  • Compliance with state regulations and requirements.
