Role Description The School Nurse is a full-time, on‑site role located in Granby, MA, responsible for delivering comprehensive health services to students and supporting a safe school environment. Daily responsibilities include assessing and treating student health concerns, administering medications, managing chronic conditions, and providing first aid for injuries and acute illnesses. The role involves maintaining health records, monitoring immunization compliance, and coordinating with families, educators, and external healthcare providers to support student well‑being.
The School Nurse also promotes health education, supports wellness initiatives, and contributes to policies and procedures related to school health and safety.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in School Nursing and School Health practices, including managing student health plans and emergency procedures.
- Strong foundation in Nursing and Medicine, with the ability to assess, triage, and respond to a range of health concerns in a school setting.
- Experience or knowledge in Pediatrics, including understanding of child and adolescent development and age‑appropriate care.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Massachusetts (or eligibility to obtain), with current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Ability to maintain accurate health records, uphold confidentiality, and navigate health regulations and school policies.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, school staff, and external healthcare partners.
- Prior experience in a school or community health setting is preferred; experience in multicultural or diverse environments is beneficial.
