Long Weekend Nurse

Full‑Time Long Weekend Nurse (32 or 40 hours/week)
Named by the Boston Globe as one of the Top Places to Work in Massachusetts for the last three years, our community‑based, mission‑driven hospice and palliative care organization seeks a Weekend Nurse to join its expanding On‑Call team. The role involves traveling to patients’ private homes and residential facilities throughout Greater Boston and parts of Metro West. The ideal candidate is well‑organized and enthusiastic about working in a fast‑paced environment and is eligible for a $5,000 sign‑on bonus.

• Provides home and hospital visits, conducts information sessions, evaluates new patients, facilitates admissions, and coordinates care planning.
• Uses triage and assessment skills to titrate medications and manage symptoms appropriately.
• Educates patients and families about terminal diseases and end‑of‑life processes.
• Communicates with an interdisciplinary hospice team about changes in patients’ needs and outcomes of interventions.

• Friday‑Monday, 9 am‑5 pm (32 hours/week).
• Friday‑Monday, 9 am‑7 pm (40 hours/week).

• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Massachusetts or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN);
  Bachelor’s preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience and at least 1 year of hospice or equivalent experience.
• Sensitivity to and knowledge about end‑of‑life issues.
• Comfortable working with socioculturally diverse patients and families.
• Ability to manage pain and control symptoms.
• Flexibility, multitasking, organizational and time‑management skills.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Adaptability to frequently changing patient needs and technology.

$84,000 – $104,000 (based on a 40‑hour role). The range reflects an average starting range. Individual pay is determined by experience, education, certifications, skills and may exceed the starting range.
