Lead Groundskeeper
** at a ski resort directs a maintenance team to ensure the exterior grounds are safe, clean, and visually appealing year-round. Responsibilities include supervising seasonal staff, planning landscaping schedules, managing snow and ice removal, and maintaining resort pathways, parking lots, and recreational spaces.
We are seeking a hardworking and dedicated
** Lead Groundskeeper
** to oversee the outdoor aesthetics, safety, and general maintenance of our resort. In this role, you will perform hands‑on landscaping and property maintenance while supervising a small crew of groundskeepers. You will be critical in preparing the resort grounds for both the bustling winter ski season and the busy summer/fall recreation months, ensuring a pristine guest experience from arrival to departure.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Team Leadership:
Supervise, train, and schedule daily tasks for the groundskeeping crew. - Grounds Maintenance:
Oversee lawn care, weed control, tree pruning, planting, and mulching of resort flower beds and common areas. - Winter Operations:
Lead snow and ice removal efforts using plows, snowblowers, and hand shovels. Apply sand, salt, and de‑icers to walkways, staircases, and parking lots to prevent slips. - Property Upkeep:
Ensure parking lots, roadways, guest drop‑off zones, and recreational access points are free of trash, debris, and fallen limbs. Clear and maintain drainage ditches to prevent erosion. - Equipment Management:
Safely operate and perform routine maintenance on power tools, mowers, tractors, and snow removal equipment. Must have knowledge of power tools (rotary sanders, skill saws, commercial mower, drills, etc.). - Safety Compliance:
Monitor grounds for safety hazards and promptly address them. Ensure all pesticide and chemical applications comply with local and federal environmental regulations. - Facilities:
Maintain all buildings (stair wells, bathroom repairs, testing exit lightening, collection of fire extinguishers for testing, fire suppression testing (churn test), etc.). - Guest Service:
Provide outstanding, polite customer service to guests who may need directions or assistance while navigating the resort.
- Experience:
1-2 years of progressive experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related field, preferably in a resort or hospitality environment. - Leadership:
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and direct a team. - Physical Stamina:
Must be physically fit, able to lift up to 50 lbs, and comfortable standing, bending, and working on uneven terrain for long periods. - Extreme Weather Tolerance:
Must be able to adapt and work effectively in harsh, unpredictable alpine and winter weather conditions. - Licensing:
Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
