The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager at Polyvinyl Films Inc. is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace at the blown plastic films manufacturing facility. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, local regulatory requirements, and corporate policies, while fostering a strong safety culture among all employees.

The EHS Manager also leads incident investigations, risk assessments, and training initiatives to promote continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and enforcement of company-wide EHS policies and procedures specific to the manufacturing of blown plastic films.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, health, and environmental regulations (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, etc.).
  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and facility inspections to identify potential hazards and environmental impacts.
  • Lead the plant’s emergency response and preparedness planning, including evacuation drills and spill response protocols.
  • Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste in compliance with regulations.
  • Investigate and report all incidents, near misses, and workplace injuries; lead root cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to integrate EHS best practices into daily production processes.
  • Develop and deliver EHS-related training for new hires, contractors, and employees, including topics like Lockout/Tagout, PPE, ergonomics, and hazard communication.
  • Maintain and submit required regulatory documentation and reports (e.g., OSHA 300 logs, environmental reports).
  • Interface with regulatory agencies during inspections or audits and ensure timely corrective actions.
Essentials

Job Duties
  • Create, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures tailored to the unique risks of plastic film extrusion and converting.
  • Enforce proper use of PPE, machine guarding, safe lifting, and ergonomic practices.
  • Manage programs for air emissions, wastewater discharge, stormwater management, and waste reduction.
  • Ensure timely environmental reporting and maintain required permits.
  • Lead investigations into all safety and environmental incidents.
  • Identify root causes, track trends, and implement long-term prevention strategies.
  • Deliver EHS training programs to all levels of staff.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and ongoing communication.
  • Ensure proper labeling, storage, and disposal of chemicals used in production.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical inventory documentation.
Skills & Abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and local EHS regulations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence safety behavior and create cultural change.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for training and reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with environmental permitting and sustainability initiatives.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting; experience in plastics or chemical manufacturing highly preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent credentials are a plus.
  • Experience with OSHA reporting systems and EHS management software.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to move freely throughout a large manufacturing facility, including walking, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods.
  • Must be able to sit at a desk, use a computer, and communicate via phone/email for extended periods.
  • Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and loud noise.
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergencies or incident situations.
Salary & Terms

Salary Range: $90,000 to $130,000 (hourly/annually)

This range reflects the base salary that Polyvinyl Films Inc. reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role, based on current market data. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, and internal equity.
