Overview
The responsibilities include taking food and beverage orders, retrieving and serving alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, and serving food to guests according to the resort's food and beverage specifications, courteously and efficiently. Assist with the maintenance and cleaning of the restaurant area and equipment and provide the highest levels of service and professionalism. Perform all duties and adhere to the Food & Beverage Service Standards.
Responsibilities- Thorough knowledge of Food & Beverage outlet operations including foods, beverages, service techniques, and guest interaction.
- Be familiar with all the resort s services/features and local attractions to assist guests.
- Greet all guests with enthusiasm and friendliness and maintain positive guest relations at all times.
- Anticipate guests needs, respond promptly, acknowledge all guests, resolve guests complaints and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Take guest food & beverage orders utilizing suggestive up selling techniques.
- Answer guest questions about food, beverages, and facilities accurately and in a friendly manner; provide the highest level of service in accordance with standards.
- Serve snacks or food items to customers seated at the bar.
- Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails and other drinks.
- Remove soiled wares from bar tops and tables to the dishwashing area.
- Arrange bottles and glasses to create attractive displays.
- Plan, organize, and control the operations of a cocktail lounge or bar.
- Plan bar menus and create drink recipes.
- Obtain and secure the assigned bank; ensure accuracy of contracted monies. Present guests checks and process payments; adhere to cash handling and credit policies; balance cash receipts.
- Order or requisition liquors and supplies.
- Develop relationships with guests and communicate with food and beverage staff to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Maintain professional relationships with all co-workers and resolve guest complaints and concerns.
- Answer outlet phone with appropriate greeting and telephone etiquette.
- Follow checklists and standard operating procedures.
- Prepare work area for opening, mid-shift, or closing in accordance with company standards; complete side work during non-busy hours.
- Clean bars, work areas, tables, glasses, utensils, and bar equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas; proper food handling.
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
- Maintain complete knowledge of all food & beverage menu items, including liquor brands, beers, and nonalcoholic selections available.
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all department policies, service procedures, and standards.
- Serve alcoholic beverages in an appropriate manner consistent with company standards.
- Strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated guests, and drunk driving.
- Limit problems and liability related to customers excessive drinking by guiding customers or arranging transportation when needed.
- Regular attendance as required by hotel/resort standards.
- Continuously increase knowledge of food, beverages, and other products and services.
- Perform related tasks as requested by management.
- May be required to perform a combination of additional supportive functions as determined by management.
- At least 18 years old.
- Excellent people skills and an outgoing personality; team player.
- Maintains a current state alcohol serving permit.
- Must be able to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 lbs and move up to 150 lbs with wheeled assistance.
- Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for long periods.
- Must demonstrate competency as outlined in the training schedule; be service-minded with a positive attitude; able to handle stressful situations and criticism; computer literate.
- Minimum 2 years Food & Beverage experience required, preferably as a Bartender.
- High school diploma preferred; any combination of education and experience may meet requirements.
- Ability to obtain Food Service Sanitation certification. First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
- All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).
