Safety Patrol Supervisors
Williams College is currently seeking two full-time, year-round Safety Patrol Supervisors to serve in Campus Safety Services (CSS) as the shift supervisor and employee responsible for all officers, dispatchers, administrative staff, and campus events during their respective shifts.
Immediate Opening:
Available for Spring 2026 start date. 6:00 pm - 6:00 am current shift
Summer Opening:
Available after July 1, 2026. current shift 6:00 pm - 6:00 am.
- Maintaining the security and safety of persons and property on the college campus
- Supervising, training, and evaluating patrol officers, and monitoring payroll and paid time off requests by officers when instructed
- Coordinating with Patrol Supervisor II to carry out departmental needs
- Being observant and responding to major incidents or potential criminal activity on campus
- Identifying potential security and safety hazards
- Maintaining good public relations by assisting others as a source of information and direction
The successful applicant must have the ability to direct the day-to-day shift work of CSS by College Policy, State Statutes, CSS directives, and orders prescribed by the College under the direction of the Director of CSS or their designee. The candidate will also be expected to provide exemplary customer service and use excellent communication skills to build rapport with the campus community and visitors.
Attention to detail and strong computer competence, basic investigative skills, with the ability to handle routine and emergency (including medical and psychological) situations with excellent judgment, including when multiple situations arise at the same time. Supervisors will be expected to assist with training, scheduling, payroll, and annual performance reviews for patrol officers as well as conducting report review and serving in a rotating on-call capacity.
- An Associate's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- A degree or coursework in criminology, law enforcement, business administration, public administration, security management, social work or related fields is preferred and may be considered in place of 2 years of experience.
- Candidates must have a minimum of four years of experience in a public safety or security-related role.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
- Familiarity and interest in working with college-age students are required, including the ability to support a diverse campus community.
- Applicants should possess computer proficiency, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively and positively with others are essential.
- Ability to perform essential job functions, including lifting, pushing/pulling and/or carrying up to 50 pounds, and standing or walking for extended periods is required.
- Able to effectively give first aid, including Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation and the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (certification and training to be provided by the College)
- A valid driver's license with a clean record is required at the time of application.
Shift Details:
This position is a second shift with 12-hour shifts and rotating days off.
Schedules are subject to change based on the needs of the department; mandatory shift, overtime, and holiday hours are required. This position is eligible for premium pay, including overtime and applicable shift differentials, for work performed during holidays, weekends, emergency snow response, and other qualifying shifts.
Notice of Schedule Transition:
Candidates should be aware that the department is moving to a five-supervisor model. Consequently, all supervisory positions are slated to transition from 12-hour to 8-hour shifts by the end of the 2026 calendar year.
Application review will begin on April 30, 2026, and will continue until the position is filled. Pay ranges from $27.75-$30.50 per hour, commensurate with experience. Competitive shift differential is also provided based on the assigned schedule.
