Door Systems and Access Control Specialist

Overview

Talascend is currently seeking a Door Systems and Access Control Specialist for a contract to hire role in Devens, MA.

The Door Systems and Access Control Specialist will have a strong focus on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing a variety of doors. This position will be part of the IFM team responsible for delivering Facility Management services to a pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Devens, MA. The roughly 1 million sq. ft. campus consists of labs, offices, manufacturing, warehousing, critical utility buildings, as well as other site supporting structures.

They will support operation, inspection, and maintenance processes to mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and life safety systems in assigned facilities, and perform inspections and repairs to interior and exterior areas with a primary focus on door and access related hardware.

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair a variety of doors such as dock levelers/dock locks, exterior sliding gates, motor operated roll up doors, inter-locking man doors, storefront glass entrance doors, commercial man doors, hollow metal doors with low energy operators (Know/Automatic Doors), rolling steel fire doors (utilities), airwalls (OCC partition doors), high speed roll-up doors.
• Repair and maintenance services for all types of doors, as requested.
• Install, configure, and maintain electronic access control system components such as proximity sensors, mag locks, e-strike/latch, key access.
• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning door hardware and access control devices.
• Maintain and repair locks, locking mechanisms, door closers, doors, furniture and controllers.
• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of door systems (both automatic and manual) within a clean room manufacturing facility.
• Understand use of controls, interlocks, and door sweeps to maintain cascading pressurization.
• Provide PM services, repairs and testing for all door types as indicated on the PM schedule during normal business hours or as mutually agreed upon by the client (PMs as indicated in each door type and dock levelers and dock locks cadence).
• Adhere to client SOPs around Clean Door Preventative Maintenance.
• Support the site on general maintenance activities: interior maintenance (hang pictures, install keyboard trays, repair office furniture systems), patch and paint repairs, minor plumbing repairs, maintain lighting system bulbs and ballasts, complete special tasks (painting, locksmith work, and other client/tenant services).
• Move office furniture, machinery, equipment and other materials as requested.
• Perform assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on conditions affecting satisfactory client occupancy and operations.
• Comply with safety procedures and maintain good housekeeping and safety of work areas; recognize hazards and propose elimination methods.
• Maintain compliance with state, county, or city ordinances and codes; comply with policies for safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment; document work performance and materials procurement as directed; maintain service documentation.
• Communicate with management, partners and Facility Services Manager regarding issues, project timelines and workload priorities.
• Maintain tools, parts, equipment and supplies in clean and safe condition; act as a resource for partners in equipment and service maintenance.
• Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials; maintain a clean and safe workplace.
• Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory; monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
• Any and all other duties and tasks assigned.

• Days:
  Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

• Knowledge of GMP procedures helpful.
• Previous work experience in a lab or manufacturing environment; cGMP experience desired.
• AAADM certification for automatic door installation, inspection, and maintenance.

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to analyze the operation of various door/gate systems, determine the cause of problems/malfunctions and take corrective action.
• Familiarity with door brands:
  Stanley, Dormakaba, Tormax, Chase, ASI, Schlage, or similar brands.
• Willingness to work in a multi-skilled team environment.
• Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Working knowledge of computer applications including Gmail, Google Docs, Word and Excel.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• May be required to work overtime to meet deadlines.
• Be available for call-in work and perform other duties as required.
