Duties
Help
You will serve as a Pipefitter and be responsible for the installation, modification, and repair of high-pressure piping systems, as well as conducting inspections of, and troubleshooting, various new and existing piping systems, and identifying irregularities and existing and/or potential problems.
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
- Assembling, installing and repairing pipes, fittings and fixtures of steam heating, sanitary and storm drainage systems, and low-pressure air according to specifications and plumbing codes.
- Installing and repairing commodes, lavatories, showers, water heaters, hot water tanks, water pumps, condensate pumps, sewer pumps, sludge pumps, sump pumps, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners.
- Fabricating, installing, modifying, repairing, and testing of piping and tubing made from iron, steel, brass, copper, copper-nickel, stainless steel, and plastic, and a wide variety of low, medium, and high-pressure hoses.
- Laying out projects, taking measurements, and making templates, jigs and fixtures.
- Setting up system routes, placing and cutting route openings, installing regulating devices, and placing hangers for proper pitch and elevation.

-This is a Bargaining Unit position.
- Selectee must be able to obtain/maintain a valid state driver's license.
- Selectee subject to successful completion of pre-employment medical exam.
-All Federal employees are required to have Federal salary payments made by direct deposit.
- Occasional travel may be required.
