Human Services Coordinator I (HSC I)
The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) seeks a motivated professional for the Human Services Coordinator I position in the Springfield/Westfield Area Office. The HSC I is the primary contact for individuals and families served by DDS and is responsible for building respectful, collaborative partnerships with family members, guardians, service providers, and other stakeholder groups.
This full‑time position (37.5 hours per week) requires flexibility to meet the needs of the Area Office.
Schedule:
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with Saturdays and Sundays off.
- Coordinate and facilitate the development of Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and Life Plans for assigned clients.
- Monitor the implementation of services provided by DDS‑funded residential, day, and support program providers.
- Arrange, organize, and coordinate the delivery of DDS‑funded and generic support services in response to individual needs.
- Maintain regular contact with clients, families, service providers, and supervisors.
- Provide crisis intervention as needed and assess clients’ needs for follow‑up planning.
- Facilitate team meetings and monitor follow‑through on recommendations while maintaining accurate records in relevant computer databases.
- Advocate for individuals’ human, civil, and legal rights.
- Arrange and provide crisis intervention for individuals as needed; assess needs and make recommendations for follow‑up planning.
- Perform other related duties, including support for participants engaged in Participant Directed Services.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time professional experience in human services, social work, or related fields. Substitutions: a bachelor’s degree or higher may substitute for up to two (2) years of experience.
Education and Licensure: A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, or related fields is required. Valid driver’s license may be required for travel.
Criminal background check (CORI) will be required as part of pre‑employment screening.
Location and ScheduleSpringfield/Westfield Area Office – Springfield, Massachusetts (1 Federal Street).
Full‑time, day shift, 37.5 hours per week. Saturdays and Sundays off; flexibility required.
