The Truro Central School, a close-knit and community-oriented elementary school on Cape Cod, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Elementary School Social Worker to support the social, emotional, and behavioral well-being of students in grades PK–6. The ideal candidate values collaboration, relationship-building, and a whole-child approach within a rural school community.

• Support students with social-emotional learning, attendance concerns, behavioral challenges, and family-related stressors
• Deliver high quality, evidence-based social-emotional curriculum
• Function as an advocate for children and provide direct services to students and their families in a one-to-one relationship, as well as in groups
• Participates as a member of the school’s leadership team and works toward making the school and community more sensitive to problems within the school population
• Participate in the development and implementation of IEPs and 504 Plans, including conducting social-emotional assessments
• Collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, families, and support staff in a team-based, relationship-driven environment
• Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and local Cape Cod community resources
• Develop, conduct and facilitate parent/guardian educational workshops on issues related to child development, stress reduction and parenting strategies
• Assist with crisis response, risk assessments, and student safety planning as needed
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation in accordance with DESE and district guidelines
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive school climate

• Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW)
• Massachusetts DESE licensure as a School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor
• Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
• Commitment to equity, trauma-informed practices, and culturally responsive care

• Previous experience in a rural or small-district school setting
• Knowledge of special education processes and Massachusetts education regulations
• Familiarity with community-based services and family support systems
• Experience with the Second Step curriculum for K-6.
