The Software Product Assurance Center’s Software Security Sensors and Effectors Department seeks an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to develop and maintain safety‑critical embedded applications in an Agile environment. Responsibilities include designing, developing, integrating, and testing firmware and software for real‑time embedded systems on Linux and other RTOS platforms; working closely with Systems and Hardware Engineering; participating in Technical Integration Meetings; and ensuring overall system integrity.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded software for real‑time systems.
- Collaborate with Systems Engineering and Hardware teams to support design concept, architectural documentation, and requirement decomposition.
- Conduct Technical Integration Meetings with subcontractors to verify hardware meets software requirements.
- Apply embedded software principles to develop hardened applications using C/C++ on Linux, RTOS, and other real‑time operating systems.
- Maintain and validate code bases built with CMake and Google Test.
- Debug system and board‑level issues using software tools.
- Ensure consistency across teams and remove impediments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in embedded software development (advanced degree may substitute for years).
- Experience in an Agile and Dev Sec Ops environment, developing, maintaining software on embedded processors/microcontrollers.
- Strong knowledge of Linux kernel/root file systems, multithreaded application development, and embedded Linux.
- Proficiency with CMake, Google Test, Git or Subversion.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance prior to start date; U.S. citizenship is required.
- Experience with RTOS systems, Linux device drivers, and/or embedded Linux.
- Embedded target development and troubleshooting.
- Real‑time embedded software design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Familiarity with x86, ARM architectures, and FPGAs.
- Experience with bare‑metal software development and Linux kernel driver development.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
Onsite – Employees will work primarily in the physical office and participate in in‑person interview steps.
Salary RangeUSD 107,500 – 204,500 (depending on experience and qualifications).
