The Assistant-in-Training (A.I.T.) position at Myopia Hunt Club provides a distinctive opportunity for individuals seeking to build a strong foundation in the turf industry. Candidates will work closely with the management team and gain hands‑on experience in daily course preparation, agronomic practices, irrigation repair and maintenance, chemical and fertilizer calibration and application, record keeping, and water management. Additionally, the club is currently preparing a Gil Hanse golf course master plan, along with plans for a new maintenance facility, offering exposure to significant upcoming projects.
Responsibilities include:- Application of pesticides and plant protectants to fairways, greens, and tees
- Water management, including hand watering and moisture monitoring
- Fertilizer calibration and application
- Supervision and leadership of small crews
- Participation in aerification and other cultural practices
- Execution of small projects and course improvements
- Daily course setup
- Walk mowing of greens
- Walk mowing of tees and collars
- Demonstrated positive attitude and strong work ethic, with the ability to perform effectively in a fun, fast‑paced, and collaborative work environment while maintaining high standards of professionalism.
