Position:
Middle School Outdoor Track and Field Coach
Reports To:
Athletic Director Work Year Days:
March 2026-May 2026 (seasonal)
Work Hours:
8-10 hours/week Educational/Training/Experience/License
Required:
* High school diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
* Prior coaching experience in track and field, preferred
* Competing experience in track and field, preferred
* Knowledge of track and field techniques
* Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
* Ability to motivate and connect with high school students
* Must meet district/state coaching certification requirements (e.g., CORI/SORI, CPR/AED, Ethics Training, Concussion Training, MIAA Fundamentals of Coaching Certification (two years to complete)
Accountability Objective:
* Ensure the development of players' fundamental skills and teamwork by conducting effective and positive practice sessions, leading to measurable improvement in meet performance and sportsmanship.
* Maintain clear and appropriate communication with athletes and parents ensuring adherence to district policies, athletic department standards, and academic eligibility.
Responsibilities:
* Plan, organize, and conduct regular practices focused on skill development, conditioning, and teamwork.
* Coach athletes in various track and field events, including sprints, distance, jumps, and throws.
* Organize and supervise participation in meets and competitions.
* Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes during practices and competitions.
* Model and instill values of teamwork, respect, discipline, and good sportsmanship.
* Supervise athletes at all team-related events, including practices, games, and travel.
* Communicate effectively with players-in person and digitally through approved communication app and school issued email.
* Communicate clearly with parents, athletic director, and school administration.
* Ensure all players meet eligibility and academic requirements.
* Maintain inventory of equipment and uniforms; report needs or damages.
* Promote a positive team culture that supports academic success and personal growth.
* Follow all district, school, and league policies, including safety and conduct expectations.
* Support the overall athletic program
* Participation in pre and post season coaches meeting
* Participation in end of year athletic banquet
Required Qualifications:
* Knowledge of track and field techniques and training methods.
* Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills required.
* Ability to promote positive team culture required
* All district/state coaching certification requirements (e.g., CORI/SORI, CPR/AED, Ethics Training, Concussion Training, MIAA
* Fundamentals of Coaching Certification (two years to complete) required
* Driver's license
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Seasonal position from March 18th-end of May. Hours vary week to week depending on practice and game schedules. End of season review by Athletic Director. SALARY:
