POSITION OVERVIEW

Oyster Harbors Club is looking for a highly motivated and team driven candidate that possesses the fundamentals needed to maintain a golf course and its team at a championship level. The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Superintendent and 3 other Assistants in all aspects of the job to provide a better understanding of golf course practices, communication, time management, leadership and teamwork.

The goal of this position is to develop a steward of sustainable golf course management and provide the candidate with the foundational skills, network and philosophies to succeed as a world class superintendent.

In June 2026
, Oyster Harbors Club will host the Massachusetts Open Golf Championship for the first time since 1942. As the state's premier golf event, the championship will showcase the Club's exceptional conditions and reinforce its reputation as one of Massachusetts' top golf courses. The assistant candidate will work alongside the Superintendent and assistants to prepare the golf course for the MASS OPEN Championship.

OYSTER HARBORS

Oyster Harbors Club, located on Grand Island in Osterville along Cape Cod's southern shore, was founded in 1926 and is known for championship-caliber golf and an exceptional summer club experience. The 18‑hole course is one of Donald Ross's last original designs and was fully restored in fall 2024 under the direction of architect Gil Hanse, including major irrigation and infrastructure upgrades.

The 140‑acre property is located on a secluded private island with vista ocean views. Greens are 100 yr old untouched bent/poa grass type. Fairways are bent/poa/rye mix. Tees are bent/poa mix and rough is bluegrass/fescue/rye/poa mix. Golf holes and property surrounds are low maintenance fine fescue native areas.

POSITION AVAILABLE APRIL/MAY REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have prior golf course management experience.
  • A Certificate or 2-4 year degree in Turfgrass Management.
  • Massachusetts applicator license or ability to obtain in 90 days (club supported).
  • Prior pesticide application experience.
